Solar Roofing

RAIN SOLAR ENERGY

Rain Remodeling and Restoration has been serving Pennsylvania homeowners since 1956. We are proud to introduce to you our newest division, Rain Solar Energy (Rain Roofing and Solar). We are excited about the future of solar energy and the positive impact it has on the environment. With the growing interest in solar in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas we knew it was time that we added solar power to our comprehensive line of roofing services.
In Pennsylvania, one advantage of installing solar is net metering. Net metering allows you to sell excess solar electricity back to the utility at the same price they would have sold it to you.

COST SAVINGS

By going solar not only do you save money over time, but you lock in a lower fixed solar payment. With inflation on the rise, paying variable and increasing rates to your utility provider doesn’t benefit your or your household. Most of us would agree that it’s better to own than to rent; when you own your own solar system, you build equity and value in your home or business. By having Rain Solar Energy provide you with a solar system for your home we are helping you to save money, help the environment, and providing you with an asset should you decide to sell your home in the future.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE RAIN ROOFING AND SOLAR

Why should you choose Rain Solar?   The reason is simple, we do what we say we will do.  We are a company you can trust and our values of Family, Honesty, and Integrity are not just words; they mean something in every aspect of work we do.  Since 1956 the Rain name has meant quality and value; the likes of which no other company can match.

We offer value based pricing with best in class equipment, 20 – 30 year warranties and the best financing plans available today.

When it comes to your home or business, you only want to partner with a company that you can trust; our positive track record speaks for itself, with thousands of installations and continued referrals each and every year!

These days solar saves you money, lasts for decades, and moves your home or business one step closer to energy independence.

HOW IT WORKS

A solar panel works by allowing photons (particles of light) to knock electrons free from atoms. The solar panel then converts those photons into electrons of direct current, which flow out of the solar panel and into an inverter and other electrical devices.

WEATHER AND SOLAR PANELS

Even though rooftop solar panels are often exposed to inclement outdoor weather conditions, they can withstand them.  Solar panels are electric devices and therefore, they are at risk for voltage surges caused by lightning.  Our installers will make sure your system is properly grounded to prevent surges.  Extra protection may be necessary, and a lightning protection system is a smart and easy upgrade.

Snow on solar panels is not a major problem. True, it can block the panels from receiving solar rays, but it usually melts off quickly because the panels are pointed directly at the sun.

We often hear our friends and neighbors say “how can solar work when Pennsylvania is so cloudy?” Did you know that Germany is a world leader in solar power and yet gets only as much direct sunlight each year as Alaska? Pennsylvania actually gets more sunshine!

SOLAR REBATES AND INCENTIVES

In Pennsylvania, one advantage of installing solar is net metering.  Net metering allows you to sell excess solar electricity back to the utility at the same price they would have sold it to you. In effect, you become a power producer on the grid, banking your excess energy for when you need it later on.

You may also be eligible to sell Solar Renewable Energy Certificates. SRECs are a solar incentive that allows homeowners to sell certificates for energy to their utility. A homeowner earns one SREC for every 1000 kilowatt hours (kWhs) produced by their solar panel system.

In 2020, the Federal government has extended some of its solar incentives through 2022, including a 2-year extension for residential commercial solar. The commercial (Sec. 48) solar investment tax credit has been extended at 26% through 2022.

These days solar saves you money, lasts for decades, and moves your home or business one step closer to energy independence.
